“Star Light, Star Bright “
The focal glass buttons feature intricate raised patterns with a finish known as Silver Lustre. This finish had been originally fired onto the buttons to create lovely shine that catches the light beautifully, and has truly stood the test of time. The larger top button is vintage ( 1940’s thru 1960’s) and the smaller bottom button is antique ( Victorian Era ).
Framing the buttons is hand beading done with tiny beads of Glass, Hematite Stone, and Pyrite Stone. The back of the pendant is ultra suede, soft against the skin.
I wove the necklace cording with strands of black silk thread done on a Kumihimo Weaving Disk. This is a Japanese form of weaving that creates a supple and strong cord, resistant to fraying.
The toggle clasp was crafted by the Karen Hill Tribe of Northern Thailand, known for their fine work in silver. This clasp is 99.9% pure silver. It features a twisted design and a long bar for security,
The length of the cording including the clasp is 17 1/4”
The pendant measures 1 3/4” in length and 1 1/4” in width at the widest point.
The pendant is very light in weight.
