Two lovely Black Glass vintage buttons were chosen for their raised designs and their very unusual
fired on finish with gentle and subtle hues of blue against the black, and the smaller button has just a whisper of a dusty pink color.
Midnight Blue Iris Glass Beading is hand sewn around the buttons, along with tiny black Onyx Stone beads, and Silver Glass beads. The back of the pendant is Ultra Suede material that has been sewn on and is durable and
soft against the skin.
The cording is 100% Silk, woven on a Kumihimo disk, creating a tightly woven strong yet supple cord resistant to fraying. The cord colors are mostly black with swirling blue woven in.
The wonderful Sterling Silver Box Clasp features a Lapis Lazuli deep blue stone , and a secure wide tongue that
has a satisfying click when attached.
The cording with the box clasp length is 17 3/4 inches.
The length of the pendant is 1 15/16 inches.
The width of the pendant is 1 1/4” at the widest point.
I named this piece “Whisper Words of Wisdom, Let It Bead”, because of the very quiet and subtle Midnight Blue and Black Colors and the pure joy of framing the buttons with the hand beading.
This is a comfortable necklace with a pendant that is light in weight, a beautiful strong clasp, and built in history
of the repurposed buttons. My best educated guess of the age and fashion era of these buttons would be the
1940’s to1950’s, embellishing well made outfits of the fancier styles.
